Tungsten Carbide; molecular formula: WC There is no Cobalt in our products. We use Tungsten Carbide 857.
It is made of : 85.7% of Tungsten Carbide, 9.5% of Nickel, 1.8% of Tantalum, 1.5% of Titanium, 1% of Niobium and 0.3% of Chromium.
Tungsten with carbon and other elements are ground into a powder and then compressed with high pressure dies to form a ring blank. The blank is then fired in an oxygen free furnace at astounding temperatures. This process called sintering creates the hardest metal used for making jewelry. The ring is then cut and shaped using diamond tools with approximately 50 steps required for completion. This fabrication process is in many ways comparable to cutting and shaping gemstones.
The color of tungsten carbide is a dark gray color(very similar to titanium and stainless steel). We can not add engraving or carving to the tungsten carbide rings. We can not customize the width of a tungsten carbide ring.

Technical Information about Tungsten Carbide WC Rings:
* Tungsten carbide rings provide the best scratch resistance available on the planet.
* Tungsten is about 10 times harder than 18K Gold, 5 times harder than tool steel, and 4 times harder than titanium.
* Tungsten measures between 8 and 9 on the Mohs scale. (Diamonds are a 10 - the highest.)
* Tungsten carbide rings have been referred to as "Permanently Polished Rings".
* Tungsten carbide rings will NOT deform.
* In the event of an emergency, a ring can be easily removed by anybody.
Tungsten is the only metal that can be permanently polished. The polish and finish will last as long as your love for one another… Many people also enjoy the heavy weight of a tungsten carbide ring. The enduring polish of a tungsten ring together with the solid weight, speak of commitment, security and an everlasting bond.
If for some bizarre reason, you see a single scratch on your tungsten ring, we will replace or repolish it immediately, free of charge. ($20 shipping/handling will apply, a proof of purchase and a return form is required.)Tungsten carbide is extremely brittle, there is a chance that if the ring is struck with a high impact that it could crack. In this event, Titanium Era will replace your ring, free of charge. ($20 shipping/handling will apply, a proof of purchase and a return form is required.)
Note: Do not bring your tungsten ring to your local jeweler, s/he may not have the expertise to refinish your ring. Doing so would void Titanium Era's warranty. Tungsten carbide rings can not be resized. We only offer the rings in half size increments, no quarter sizes. Sizes range from American size 6 until 12.5.
